10A - Elevator Pitch No. 1

9A - Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

9A - Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2 WHO? I interviewed five candidates for this invention.  A list of their description and a summary of their interview is below. The first interview was conducted with a college student who went to the grocery store only when she realized she was out of something.  She stated that this invention would help to save time, but she probably wouldn't use it until after college, when she was going to the grocery store more regularly. The second interview was conducted with a personal assistant who goes to the grocery store once a week for herself and twice a week for her employer.  She stated that while her employer has very specific grocery lists that she cannot vary from, she would use this app to help her make decisions, especially when she was considering switching brands. The third interview was conducted with a young professional living in an urban area.  He stated that he goes to the grocery store many times a week, as one...

8A - Solving the Problem

8A - Solving the Problem Problem:  American consumers have too many choices when shopping, specifically at the grocery store. Product: My idea is to create a phone app that helps consumers to make decisions about products they are thinking about buying.  For example, do you ever go to the grocery store and feel overwhelmed by the amount of toilet paper options?  You want something that is durable, but also cost affected.  Well, using this app, you would be able to input what characteristics you were looking for in a product, and then it would tell you what the best option for you is. This invention would save consumers time and energy of having to shift through multiple products every time they go to the grocery store.

7A - Testing the Hypothesis

7A - Testing the Hypothesis "American consumers are constantly surrounded with wide variety of products but very little actual evidence on which products will best fit their needs." WHO? American Consumers WHAT? There are too many products in the current American marketplace. WHY? American corporations are trying to make a larger profit by introducing more products into the market. Interview Questions: 1. Do you feel like there are constantly new products being added to the marketplace? For example, every time you go shopping do you feel like there is something new to choose from? 2. Does this influx of new product add time by forcing you to make more decisions during your weekly shopping trips? 3. Do you find you have this problem solving dilemma with every product or just certain ones? 4. If so, which products do you have this decision problem with? Interview #1: This interview was done with my mom.  She is a middle aged woman who is a homem...

6A - Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

6A - Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory  Trends 1. The Rise of Economic Nationalism Threatens Global Cooperation. https://www.piie.com/blogs/realtime-economic-issues-watch/rise-economic-nationalism-threatens-global-cooperation There is an opportunity here, because as the economy approaches another downturn, countries are looking inwards to themselves to get out of it.  This can be seen in the G-20 Countries who have increased the amount of nation sovereignty policy since the 2008 economic recession. The prototypical customer for this opportunity would be a government official or group of officials that would work with another government official or group of officials who also possess this opportunity. This opportunity would be rather difficult to exploit due to the large scale of parties that would have to be involved on a global level in order to make this opportunity work. I saw an opportunity here, because I have seen the affect of a bad recess...

4A - Forming An Opportunity Belief

Image
4A - Forming An Opportunity Belief          I believe that consumers are constantly surrounded by too many options.  Every time they go somewhere as simple as the grocery store, their brains are put into overdrive mode just to try and figure out what they need/want.  For example, the other day I went to Publix to purchase some paper towels.  I wanted something that was absorbent, but cost efficient.  When I arrived, I noticed that there was a plethora of options to choose from.  I ended up spending close to 15 minutes examining all of the different options before deciding on my solution.  I thought to myself what a stupid waste of time.  If there were fewer options, I would be able to find the correct one for me right away.       While I realize that asking big name corporations to limit their influence on the market is probably unrealistic, there could be a way that consumers had less to worry about when ...
