Interview #1:
This interview was done with my mom. She is a middle aged woman who is a homemaker. She noted that she does feel like there are constantly new brands being added to her local grocery store. She does not experience added decision time with these products, as she knows what she likes, but she does spend extra time looking for her specific product when new ones are added and old ones are moved. She also noted that some products she does experience added decision time on are new food items that she thinks her family may like.

Interview #2:
This interview was done with my boyfriend. He is a young professional who works from 9-5 every weekday. He stated that he doesn't really notice new products being added every week to his local grocery store. But, he also stated that he does not go consistently enough to really pay attention to what is added. He typically goes into the store and spends less than 30 minutes there just getting the necessities that he needs. He stated that he eats most of his meals out of the house, so there is no decision time added due to food choices.
Interview #3:
This interview was done with my college roommate. She is a 20 year old female studying dietetics. She states that she loves the variety of choices at the grocery store. She loves going and buying new things to try. She stated in our interview that she does see new choices every time she goes, she enjoys the extra time she spends deciding which item to try out next. This mainly occurs with her for food products. Items such as toilet paper and paper towels she buys the same every time she shops.
Interview #4:
This interview was done with my other college roommate. He is a 21 year old male studying chemical engineering. He stated that he doesn't mind the variety of products at the grocery store, but he usually makes choices off of items he has purchased before hand. Since he buys mainly things he knows he enjoys, he stated that it does not add any additional time to his shopping trips. He says the products he is most likely to have a hard time deciding on are the basic necessity products, and he usually makes his decision based on price.
Interview #5:
This interview was done with my sister. She is a young mom who is a homemaker for a family of 4. She stated that she personally is unaffected by the amount of products offered at her local grocery store. However, when she takes her children to the grocery store, they are constantly asking to try new, exciting food items. When she takes her children, and they want to try all new products, it does add additional time to her shopping experience.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteAwesome job with this assignment, I love the way you were able to organize this to make it super easy to read and figure out. Your product idea is one that I can relate to so much and I am glad to see that you are pursuing it! The interviews you conducted seemed to even further the opportunity you have and it just goes to show how many people could really benefit from and application like this one. Great work !
Hey,
ReplyDeleteGreat feedback, it seems like it was very helpful and insightful. I also do not feel personally affected by this problem, as I feel competition between different products will cause the best ones to succeed and I love trying new things, but I see how people can easily get overwhelmed. Dealing with kids, like your sister has to, must be a big issue when dealing with this problem as you point out. I remember being a kid and wanting to try every different snack food I saw in a TV commercial, I'm sure I caused my mom some stress when it came to product selection.
